CRAWLING WITH TARTS-OPERAS, LP, 1993, USA

Longtime cassette culture vets Suzanne Dycus and Michael Gendreau's work under the Crawling With Tarts moniker had encompassed a pretty wide swath of activity since their inception in 1983, from the most recessive improv experiments to quirky art pop, but circa the early 90's, these two began to take an interest in the degraded sonics of worn antique thrift store 78's, especially those of a self recorded nature, something that used to be available as a novelty item during the 1930's-50's. These they multi-track and mutate with an emphasis on the physicality of the needle drag and interacting sheets of surface noise in a similar spirit to Christian Marclay's Record Without A Cover.
